Prayers Answered
Let me first start this post by thanking all of our family and friends who prayed for us. Friday, April 1st, was a dreaded day for our family. Owen and Tyson were both having surgery. My mom came down for the weekend to help us out - thank goodness for her! We were a nervous wreck, especially for Tyson... BUT our day went better than we could have ever expected!
The day started at 5 a.m. Chuck, Owen and I headed out to West Boca for Owen's eye surgery. We had to be there by 6 a.m. Owen didn't even know what to do with himself... if you know him, you know he is a sleeper (great for mommy and daddy!)!! So, despite him being a little cranky since we woke him up super early, overall he was great. The whole entire thing only took two hours. And during recovery, he got to try his first popsicle ever. He loved it :)
So, since we were in and out in two hours, we called my mom to tell her to meet us with Tyson, our dog. She was going to be the one to take him to the vet for his surgery because we thought we'd still be in Boca with Owen. We were so happy we'd be able to see him before he had the procedure done. We were warned that this was an invasive surgery that takes a 15 day recovery... and for the first two days he would need to be kept in a very quiet place as he would be in a great deal of pain. He also needed to stay overnight at the vet. So knowing all of this, we were very upset for him and nervous. Again, if you know us, you know that Tyson is a MAJOR part of our life and has been for 7 1/2 years.
Anyways, let me get to the amazing part of this whole day - Four hours after dropping Tyson off, I got a phone call from the vet. Initially, I was scared to death when I first heard her voice because I knew she shouldn't be calling for at least another few hours... so of course I thought something must have gone wrong. BUT, to my surprise, she told me that following some routine procedures before the actually surgery, they decided against the surgery!! They said the medicine started to actually work and they could see improvement!! So,she decided that she would instead put him on perscription food and he'll be checked every two months for I guess the rest of his life as this condition can be life threatening. However, just knowing that there has been improvement (without surgery) was such wonderful news to hear.
PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED!!!!!! :)
Here are some pictures from this day...

And so our weekend ended up being a fun one...

A Little Birthday Celebration!!
My BABY is ONE!!! Where in the world did the past year go?!? I knew when Owen started smiling like crazy at just 3 weeks old that we were were going to be blessed with a very happy baby. He has brought us so much joy in the past year. Owen has grown into such a joyful, kind-hearted and sweet one year old. We are so very blessed.
To celebrate our little man turning one we had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed birthday party with some of our family members. It was loads of fun and Owen got presents galore! Here are some pictures of his very special day! :)

Oh, and I didn't forget that I was going to update on the months from January - March. So here goes (briefly):
My cousin, Brittany, got married!

Chuck and I took a trip to The Keys... our first vacation away from Owen. We had a blast, and it was definitely nice to enjoy just being "us" for a few days. Don't get me wrong though, the little man was brought up in conversation at least every 30 minutes. :) Here are some pictures from our time in Key West and at Hawk's Cay.

Well, I'll blog again soon! Thanks for reading!

Three Months of Updates!
Hi again. You aren't surprised it has been three months since I've posted, huh? :) Well, lots to update you on. I think the best way will be through some photos! That way you won't be on here for hours reading a very lengthy update (not like you would REALLY do that anyways, especially on the weekend)!
So here goes:
Owen's first Thanksgiving was spent at my parent's house in St.Pete. It's always wonderful spending time with my family.

However, this Thanksgiving was a little rough. My sweet grandmother passed away on this day. She was 103 years old and truly the most amazing woman I've ever known. Not to mention, she was "with it" up until she was called to heaven. She still lived by herself, was as stubborn as could be (hmmm, maybe I get that from her?!), as fun and loving as could be and still the same die-hard Mets fan who was up-to-date with all the latest sports happenings! I miss her so much.

Owen visited Santa and LOVED him.

Thanks to being a teacher I had two weeks off from work. The first week was spent in St.Pete. I got to catch up with so many old friends. AND MY BROTHER GOT ENGAGED ON CHRISTMAS EVE! We are so thrilled for Danny and Erica. Can't wait until they tie the knot on October 22nd!

We left Christmas morning to head back home and spend the rest of Christmas day with Chuck's side of the family.

So.... I'll update again real soon with our journey through 2011 so far! :)
Thanks for reading!!
